This work occupies the space between the entrance to a small courtyard and a busy street. The transition is signalled by 3 inter-related shapes curving gracefully against the walls and ceiling welcoming the visitor. I was particularly interested in transforming this neglected space into something that expressed a unique quality able to enrich the daily experience of a journey making it into something special. The harsh and rigid box like angles have become an inhabited geometry invoking French Philosopher Gaston Bachelard’s notion of the power of the curve and its nest-like powers that invite the viewer to remain.
