Series 2 Tintotem Parade 2022-23

In this series of fifteen Tintotems there is a similar playful critique of the hubris associated with the Public Monument as in the earlier series of Tintotems, but in more complex configurations, for example cans are bent and contorted to create spiralling organic forms,  miniature people, some climbing  or falling from ladders, are looking out as sentinels at their surroundings. There are surprising combinations of everyday objects transformed into commemorative or disturbing symbols; spectacles become angels or insects wings; a wire garden bird feeder becomes a cage of escape. On a different scale, life size, mannequin like personages, are presented as an ambiguous presence somewhere between a human, and a  machine. Discarded toys, redundant violins, damaged condiment sets, novelty biscuit tins that are longer wanted are a few of the up-cycled commonplace domestic items that have been transformed into an alternative world of totemic objects and commemorative metaphors.
